The ‘da Vinci’ student canteen is a functional public building at the Leonardo Campus in Münster. In this ‘Kunst am Bau’ (‘Art in Construction’) work, the building’s distinctive concrete columns standing in the middle of the room become the starting point and carrier of artistic intervention between the food, the essential eating and creativity. The two columns each display the names of famous artists, scientists and architects and culinary specialities and food. The simple concrete columns become “thought columns”. About 6,000 letters are etched into the concrete columns. The names cover the entire surface of the columns. The completion of the “Denksäulen” project took place from 28.07.2008 to 07.09.2008.
